Hey guys,
hope ye will able to help.
We ar planning a trip to Africa to the following countries - South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Malawi,Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia.
I found it quite difficult to search the information about the Visas required for each country.
I am from Latvia and my boyfriend is irish, therefore we prob might need different Visas, i am not sure. I red that in most places it is adviced to get the visa on the border. In what countries it is easier to do so??? And is there any website that would provide info about all countries in Africa with Visa requirements for each of those.

Hope to hear from ye soon,
many thanks in advance,
regards,

Hello Kat 😊

I was in Kenya and Uganda 10 years ago with an Irish passport.
At the time I was able to get the Kenya visa at the airport in Nairobi and the visa for Uganda at the border. You get stamps on your passport on the way in and on the way out. I did not have to pay anything for mine but my Dutch travelling companion had to pay for these stamps entering many of the countries in Africa. Although he had to pay something the visas were still easy for him to get.
Of course things may have changed since then. Double check in the Lonely Planet Guide for East Africa. If you dont want to buy the book, then just go into a bookshop and look at the relevant page. That is what I do when I just want a very small amount of information from one of the books.

Hey Mell,
Thanks a lot for the information. I do have a book, but the it doesnt seem to b very specific about all countries. Also checked good few websites, but eash of them has different VISA requirements, where I got confused.
Was Kenya more expensive, as the number of tourists is growing in that area?
Thanks again,
😉

Kenya can be very cheap. There are very cheap hotels and public transport.
What is expensive are tourist things like safaris.

By the way, if you are flying into Nairobi dont take the public transport bus into the city. You can take it on the way to the airport if you want. When comming from the airport on the bus your newness in the country will be taken advantage of. They will push you and shove you and while you are distracted they will rob you. That is almost guaranteed. Take a taxi from a reputable taxi company. Those black London style taxis have a good reputation so try those if you can.
