after reading that ive decided to go with a smaller bag, maybe 45-55, maybe even carry on size so i can get in and out of airports handier, ill have to see what they look like up close cause i havent seen one yet, but i def wont be going for anything over 60

Remember you're going to have to carry this thing around with you. If you pack an 80L bag you're probably going to regret it. You'd be surprised how little you really need to pack and you can always send stuff home. I had a friend who went around Asia in a 35L bag and he did quite well. In the long run, the less you carry the happier you'll be. And also, try to find a bag that opens up in the front. I had a top loader and every time I had to get something out, it would be at the bottom and I'd have to empty my bag. Good luck! Reply to this

I prefer a larger pack - you don't have to fill it - though you probably will require a little discipline not to.

The secret of good packing - is bags within the bags. A bag for all related types of stuff - eg: clean clothes, dirty clothes, toiletries, medicines, camera accessories.

Weight is the key thing - the ideal weight is as little as possible - with 15kg being a good goal. Make sure you get a sturdy belt on the backpack - one where the weight is sent as much as possible to your hips and legs - rather than your shoulders that will get tired more quickly.

And a "welcome to travelblog" to everyone above 😊 Reply to this

thanks ali and aodh i was thinking something between 60l and 80l so im gona check both out in the shop.
im more concerned about the weight than size really so i guess its just down to discipline when packing. Reply to this

I have not actually been travelling yet so I cannot say me advocating THIS rucksack is the most reliable advice. But I can say that it is cheap compared to others that I have seen and seems to tick most of the criteria that other travellers have advised, including a front opening. It also comes with a rain cover which can be packed away.

I got it from Millets which is based in the UK.

Hope this helps. Reply to this

Thanks Alan, thats seems like a good backpack... I might make a trip to millets to check it out on the weekend! Seems fairly priced too... Reply to this
