Take this free travel personality quiz

hey gang:

I found this really cool travel personality quiz and wanted to share it. It kind of makes it a little bit easier to decide where to go on your next vacation. Some of you probably don't need the help of an outside source to give you advise on where to go, but this actually stresses me out a little bit because there are so many places to see and experience. Anyway, the quiz is free and takes about 2 minutes to complete. It gives you all this information on what "type" of traveler you are, along with all the destinations and kinds of vacations that would be perfect for your personality type. I was pretty excited that I came across something like this. Has anyone taken something like this before? If so, where was it? I am interested to see where else I "should" be traveling too...

You can take the quiz here. Reply to this

Hello RichG 😊

I am a mid venturer.
The personality type description of me is quite accurate but the range of destinations they say I would enjoy is not as broad as the range I actually do enjoy.

Hmmm, well I am apparently a mid venturer too. I'm not too sure those were the most in depth questions ever - but certainly some of the stuff they said is true. Equally though some of it is not true. I love to learn the history of the places I visit and I do like reading and keeping fit. I don't mind roughing it though and I love camping under the stars. I also thought the range of travel destinations was quite limited... and definately geared towards Americans since it listed places in USA seperate from international destinations. Reply to this

Yeah, I dont mind roughing it a bit either Anna. That part of the description was not accurate. I have slept in train stations, roof tops, under bridges....... In fact safety is my only real sleeping requirement. Also the restaurants. I like them but dont care if they dont exist if I can buy things like fruit and yogurt in the shops and markets.

WOW...when i took the quiz it said that I was authentic...I guess its because the both of you are way more outgoing then I am. One of the questions that I loved was the one if i prefer 'roughing it' as you guys put it or a nice big hotel...hahaha...i'm the biggest wimp; but i would rather a nice king size bed then under a bridge...hahaha. I certainly dont say no to king size beds when they are available at a good price. :D
Thats the good thing about travelling in places where things cost less than here in Europe. Things like King size beds are affordable on a skimpy budget.

Mell; where are you from? The only trip that I took to Europe was to Italy, France, Switzerland and London...i have to say that the accomodations where completely different then they are here in the States. I guess my ignorance didn't allow me to think that in Italy they don't really care much for air conditioning...i swear i'm such a wimp!

I have to agree with Mell - King sized beds certainly have their place on the travel routes. I can cope with roughing it... for a limited time. My general rule is that anywhere is ok as long as there are reasonable bathrooms facilities nearby - I like to be clean. I really can't cope with being dirty for more than a few days. I think my worst experience was living in India at the start of the monsoon. The rainwater washed mud into the river stopping our house water supply and what did get through was often siphoned off by the local farmers for their fields. We all got very creative about keeping clean, at one point we all walked out into the downpour fully dressed, with our shampoo, and washed our hair and the clothes we were wearing in our front garden!! I am from Ireland RichG but I have been living in Germany for the last 6 years.

That reminids me of a village I stayed in in Kenya Anna. The houses had plumbing installed but no water came out of the taps. I was staying with a British doctor who was volunteering her services in the village hospital for a couple of years. She used to leave buckets and barrels under the eves of the houses in case it rained. One night it rained. She screeched at me to get out of bed right now because we are going to gather water. I though she has to be sleep walking. Why would go to the well a half KM away at this time of night. She meant it was raining and we are going to take every vessel in the house outside and bring it in as soon as it is full. At the end of an hour we were soaking wet and covered in red mud. It stopped raining before we had a chance to get the shampoo out and take a shower in the rain so we took a couple of litres of water each and washed the mud off ourselves in the shower stall with the shower that no water ever came out of. The locals did not run out to gather water even though they were so short of it because they thought that going out in the rain causes Malaria.
Actually the taps in the house did produce water once but once only. My friend never bothered to make sure the taps were off because water never came out of them. One time it did when she was not at home and she came home to an inch of water on the floor. Reply to this
