For the first few years of my daughters life I did not get to travel much because it is not so easy to travel with little children. One thing I missed was the food in different countries. With lots of immigrants comming to Ireland at the time and opening food shops there were suddently all kinds of exotic things on the market to cook with. I decided to learn to cook because if I could not be in the various countries then at least I could taste them.

Hi Mel,

Feel the same...leaving abroad I got the chance to learn to cook different cuisines and I love it! Food reminds me of so many places...
The other hobby I have developped is the love for trekking, rafting and any other sport that can brings one closer to the nature... :-) Let's keep exploring!

Photography! As I travelled more I wanted to take more and better photographs to remember my trips. Now I love photography for its own sake, although the ideal is to be taking pictures in a beautiful exotic location. 😊 Reply to this

I did a diving course in Thailand 2 years ago, just the Open Water PADI, but I loved it and now we're going to Malaysia to try to become a Dive Master...also climbing...all those beautiful mountains that we see out there are waiting to be climbed... Reply to this

For us it was cycling. I hadn't been on a bike for years when a friend suggested we hire some out while on a trip around Eastern Europe...we continued the trend, by doing time on a number of crotchety bikes in SE Asia & Oz in 2006. We now use bikes as our main mode of transport in Dublin and cycle commute to work. Reply to this

Photography and scuba diving are two passions that have grown from experiences I had travelling.

For so many travelling isn´t just about going from place to place sight seeing - but also about giving ourselves the time to learn about what we truly have passions for.

I only tried scuba diving because it was something to do in Honduras and was cheap enough to give it a try - whereas back in the UK I would have been very unlikely to try crawling into a cold grimey flooded quary for a couple of hundred quid just on the off chance I would enjoy it... though now... I´m looking forward to diving in as many different environments as possible.

Try every thing you can when travelling - blow the budget occasionally as well - I´ve not regretted anything that I´ve blown the budget to experience - but I have regretted not doing the skydive in New Zealand. Reply to this

Fire dancing and pole dancing????? Sounds like there's a good story there!! Out of curiosity where did you learn fire dancing, and where do you keep it up back at home? Reply to this

i bought the fire poi's and a DVD which teaches you the moves when I was back home in the UK. I'm now in Australia and you can do it in your garden, the park etc....

the pole dancing came into play in Australia...came here, met some people who introduced me to these pole dancing classes... Reply to this
