Buying a car in Aus and USA??
18 years ago, August 9th 2005 No: 1 Msg: #2429
Hi. Is it easy and safe to buy a car in Aus and USA? I will be in each country for 3 months so thought it would work out more cost efficient to buy rather than rent. Also freedom to go wherever.

Is is possible to get car insurance for a non resident? Also any tips from anyone who has done this would be a great help. I am not really sure where to start....hope to hear your advise

I'm not sure how you'd go about that in the US. Honestly, they've probably made it harder in recent years than it might of been in the past. A decent used car in the US will probably run you about 2 or 3 grand. (US$). How quickly you can sell it once you're done... that's another story. Sure you could pick something up for cheaper, but will it make it through the extreme temperatures of different states at different times of year?? That's the catch. Reply to this
