For the West Coast US, I replied to someone elses post here: http://www.travelblog.org/Forum/Threads/760-1.html

He was looking to go from LA to Vegas, but this could come in useful if you're looking to head out that way. If you're on the W. Coast, and up to see as much as possible, I see no reason not to see all the fake crap in Vegas, then head off to the Grand Canyon. But again, I refer you to the link I posted. If you want more info, let me know and I'll scratch my head a bit for some other stuff. San Francisco and Seattle are both beautiful cities if you are heading up north. Reply to this

East Coast Australia:

Well - Sydney, Fraiser Island and Cairns (Great Barrier Reef) - would be the places that I'd have to see.

I travelled only from Sydney to Brisbane and spent three months working there - missed out on 99%!o(MISSING)f Oz. But when I go back - I'll try to buy or rent a camper van or car - my brother travelled by bus in Australia and was often frustrated that he was unable to get to the sites with out his own transport.

The Oz Experience has a reputation as a party bus - which if that is what you're looking for is fine - tends to be gap year (18-22 yo) travellers. Reply to this
