Anyone watch the Travel Channel?

Great shows and lots of education

I am a travel addict and when I am back home trying to save money for the next trip, I watch the Travel Channel nearly every day to keep me sane. I am a huge fan of two particular hosts that are on this network: Anthony Bourdain and Samantha Brown. There is a part of me that is the traveler, and there is another part of me that loves just being a tourist. Bourdain is the traveler in me and Sam is the tourist in me. I love these shows but haven't found any forums to discuss them with other fans. I can sign up on the Travel Channel website forum, but unfortunately I have to register on Discovery.com to do it and I fear my inbox will be riddled with unwanted spam. So I thought to check here. Any fans of Tony Bourdain and/or Samantha Brown? Or any of the travel shows on the travel channel for that matter? I wanna chat with you! Reply to this

I like Samantha Brown but am not a Bourdain fan. He seems kind of a jerk sometimes, but that's just me, others really like him. Samantha seems very down to earth and gives very helpful hints. Love her Passport to Europe series and her Great Hotels series. She's not afraid to do stuff and isn't afraid to embarass herself either.

I was really disappointed in the Travel Channel's 1000 Places to See Before You Die series. Had high hopes for it since I had bought the book. The gal in the couple they selected was kind of a wuss and didn't seem to want to do much but shop.

On the Travel Channel, I always enjoy the Secrets of National Park series and Seven Wonders series . I also like Globe Trekker. Speaking of travel, a series I love is on Discovery HD is called "Treasures of the National Trust" where they review the castles of the United Kingdom. Another great is Sunrise Earth. It's GREAT in HD.

I don't have the travel channel, but I wish. So, for now I have to be content with whatever OLN has to offer, which isn't really that bad. My favourites are:

"Backpackers"
"Pilot Guides"
"Don't forget your passport"

They're just enough to tide me over until I can experience the real thing! Reply to this
