I'll be travelling for 9-12 months starting in South America-NZ-AUS-SouthEast Asia and maybe to SriLanka and India time/money permiting!
I've gathered some info on the net it seems a 55+10 ltr bag is about the the size I'm looking for, but I'm having trouble with makes and features.
(I thought it best to ask people who used them travelling instead of some schpeel from a shop.)
Any Ideas? Pro Cons of your past/present backpacks?
Reply to this My present backpack is a 70 liter Vango... no idea what model. Actually it's my only backpack.
Pros - 70 liter - fits everything, and if I'm not carrying such a stupid amount then it doesn't really matter, I can tighten all the straps and it isn't so huge.
Cons - whatever I need is always right in the depth of that pack... I'm considering a pack with zips like the MacPack, but they're expensive.
Isn't allowed as hand luggage. So for short trips I don't even take it, just my noname day pack...

So that's where your warm clothes were hiding! :-p
I'm not a pro backpacker, but mine has served it's purpose fairly well so far. The "Columbia Pak Mandu". Probably not for your more serious backpackers at 3900 cubic inches, but it does the trick for me, and I can get it on most planes as Carry on.
