How much per day to travel in southern africa?
16 years ago, July 12th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #16397
Can anyone give me a rough estimate for a budget for June/July in southern africa, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania? Roughly per day for hostel, food, travel and tours? I dont think that Lonely Planet will be that accurate.

Back packers ZAR500 to ZAR800 per day, 3 star ZAR800 to ZAR1200 and Luxury ZAR1200 to ZAR4000
This would be for B&B light lunch and dinner
Travel depends on how far you'll go Car hire +-R350 per day plus fuel
Entrance from R50 to R450 per event

My 26 days in SA cost about R1200 per day for all and we traveled about 5000km seeing from game parks, Mountain areas, beaches, Garden route,
Lovely Cape town and the boring part through the Karoo.
But all in all it was a good trip.

I'm busy compliling my journal so i'll keep you informed when its posted Reply to this
