Vaccinations

I would recommend that you get every vacination that your doctor suggests. Question: What Malaria injections? The only way to prevent Malaria is to take various pills reguarly. (Unlesss there has been a recent miracle cure I haven't heard of). They don't actually stop Malaria but they do lesen the effects of the illness if you get ill - they kill the parasite in your body, which is why you have to keep taking the pills for weeks after you have been in a Malarial region. You don't actually mention all the places you are going to in Africa. Egypt is probably not that bad. But if you are going anywhere Sub-saharan on the East or West coast you would be a fool not to use Malarial prevention. You would also be a fool not to take every vacination that the doctor recommends. Malaria kills millions of people in Africa every year. The vacinations are recommended for a good reason. Take every one that the doctor recommends for the places you plan to visit.

Sorry if the tone of this sounds a bit agresive but I am worried for your health. Health services in much of Africa outside of big cities can be very basic. (Obviously there are Western standard hospitals in some places - it depends again exactly where you are going in Africa - its a big place!). Reply to this
