Airline web sites and other travel web sites both claim their superiority over others. Tell me your opinion through

Suresh welcome to travelblog.org - unfortunately your script does not work - "cannot get email address" - feel free to ask your questions here.

My answer includes:

Best deals available on the cheap airline websites - in europe see easyjet ryanair etc. The search sites don't include these airlines.

just visit many of them - and choose the cheapest. Takes many hours of work - but you can save a lot Reply to this

I've actually wondered the same thing. I have been pricing tickets to Germany for the past year, just trying to get an idea of when in the spring would be cheapest. Anyhow, I have found that the cheapest prices are on the airlines website. Is there a difference in the ticket and service you would recieve by purchasing a ticket from the airline direct or from a 3rd party (such as Cheaptickets.com) Reply to this

actually a majority of people choose airlines for an online ticket. i have booked a few online and there is no difference in service etc. but you have to read the terms and conditions carefully. Reply to this

My experience with online booking has not been very positive. Three times I have booked hotels in other cities and 2 of those times the hotel has been really bad. That's why I was wondering if it might not be best to go directly through the company plus the fact that it has always been a few dollars cheaper. Reply to this

I think an airline is a little different from a hotel - you know it's going to be cramped, uncomfortable, and unpleasent up front 😉 - least if you fly economy.

Generally I use the consolidating websites as a price guide (expedia, orbitz etc) and then go direct to the airlines website and see if I can save a bit more there.

For the really cheap airlines - the £10 European flights - no frills, no coffee, no TV - but only 3hr flights max - such as Ryan Air, EasyJet - and for central European flights, WizzAir and SkyEurope, the consolidators don't even include these tickets so it's worth shopping around amoungst them, watch out for the flight times meaning that public transport has ended and you lose the savings on Taxi fairs, and also the flights become drastically more expensive closer to the flying date.
