Our annual celebration of how far we've collectively wandered during the past year
Jo,
You obviously got Worldmapmaker.com to work for you. I still can't make changes to my travels, and it's missing the flags and country count. Nevertheless, here is my list for 2018:
United States (where I live)
Belgium
Italy
Reply to this In response to: Msg #206415 Mike, in the past I tried to update my map under the Utilities tab. While updating my Profile, I noticed that under the Profile and Settings tab, there is a tab for Extras. The only Extra is for World Map Maker. I selected edit, made my changes, and then then accepted them. It appears that using this tab works. Can you try it and let me know if it worked for you?

We have to tell Jo where we've been? Really? There's no instruction with the 'In 2018 TravelBloggers went to...' announcement. I would have thought this map would be automatically produced from a report of published blogs.

I've just tried to create a new map (of the states of IndiaI that I've visited) using the World Map Maker link in the Extras part of the Profile setting - but, alas, it just whirs away endlessly, generating absolutely nothing!
It does allow me to Edit an existing map, made many moons ago, of places I've visited in the World. The updated version doesn't appear on my blogs, however (which might be simply down to caching - so I'll check again in a day or two).
Reply to this Can't add directly onto the map but in 2018 we went to:
Sri Lanka
India
Nepal
Laos
Myanmar
Thailand
Cambodia
Vietnam
Singapore
Bangladesh
UK - working there currently
Turkey

Bob, for the record: yes it has been possible to edit my existing 'places visited' map through the Profile and Settings tab. It's just not possible to create a new one, which, I guess, explains why the map at the top of this page is still blank!
P.S. Any news of Ali? It's been more than another five weeks since he last visited the site.
Reply to this In response to: Msg #206436 Until Jo updates the newly created 2018 map, I would agree that she has the same problem as the rest of us in creating a new map. At least we can update the colors for countries visited on our original maps, but withot the the flags and country count.
Dancing Dave talked to Ali a month ago. Ali was fixing the Security Certification issue at the time. I don't think that Ali shows up as having visited the site when he is working with code to fix problems.
Reply to this It was displaying correctly when I created it, but not today (hence why you don't see any instructions).
Mike - perhaps you're not familiar with this, but it's just a fun thing we've done the past four or five years to plot on a single map where we've collectively been. The point of the exercise is more about the participation in the forum than about simply the map being filled in.
If you're wanting to post technical queries/comments relating to the maps we can start another thread for that in the Support forum.
Reply to this I've added the countries listed in the thread to the source map, so when they're displaying properly you'll see them added, with last year's map underneath as per previous years.

Thanks Jo. Strange that neither last year's completed map nor this year's one are displayed at all today.
There are already topics relating to maps in the Support forum. One ('Countires Visited Map') was started by Bob eight months ago. The other ('Problem with maps') is more recent - only 10 weeks!
Reply to this Passed 2018 with a great joy. Hope new year also bring lots of happiness.
