Once a year, go some place you’ve never been before.

~ Dalai Lama

Maybe you haven't made plans yet to go there, but where is the one place you would love to go to this year, that you haven't yet been to?

Just one (city or country), no cheating and naming multiple locations because you can't narrow it down ;-)

Maybe you'll get there, or maybe life won't take you there this time round - but it'll be fun to check back at the end of the year and see what happened! Reply to this

Nepal.

I've been talking about going there with my sister for about the last five years, and a few months ago we actually settled on some dates finally.
But - life happened a month ago and Nepal is now going to be a lot harder physically to achieve - but I'm going to be really proud of myself if I get there in 2018! Reply to this

There is one place that I have always wanted to go to, my Mother was born there and my Grandparents lived there as part of their army life, the stories have always fascinated me and hopefully ....unless things go dramatically wrong, I will get there on the 9th January 2018...... I'm on my way India Reply to this

In 2018 we will finally take a safari. We are going to South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We've wanted to do this for a long time but other wonderful trips kept jumping ahead. This is the year..... come on September.

I'm glad you've posted this as now we know where people are going and it will make it easier to bump into Travel Bloggers along the way.

2018 was going to be the year we were going to visit Myanmar....

But....... I then found really cheap flights to Jordan with Turkish Airlines, via Istanbul. We've wanted to visit Petra for quite some time so we changed plans. I then realised, if we extended the initial stopover to a week (hardly a stop over by this point) we could catch flights to the center of Turkey and visit Cappadocia, which has been another destination on my wish list for a while, so the flights are all booked! Two for the price of one! Counting down the days to April! 😊

Oh and 'sadly', Qatar had one of their flash sales just before Christmas, so I abused the credit card and booked flights for us all to Jo'burg in August! I have absolutely no Idea what our plans are for when we're in S. Africa yet, but, I'm sure we'll figure something out! 😊 Reply to this

I plan to walk the Via Francigena from Tuscany to Rome. I haven't been to San Marino so this will be my new country on the way to the VF. As for which country is at the top travel wish list in the future, when Linda and I can travel together again we want to visit Poland.

Tangier.
I've always had this post-colonial, rakish but slightly seedy, impression of Morocco. Tangier has been a magnet for writers such as Paul Bowles, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and Tennessee Williams. Ibn Battuta, perhaps the father of all travel writers, called Tangier home. Reply to this

Two sets of plans for 2018 have already fallen through for us. We had booked a trip to the UK in March with several side trips, but that fell through because we got offered a work contract. Then we nearly settled on a quick trip to the Philippines in January, but got offered another contract within hours of making that decision.

So... I'm now adamant that I won't get my heart broken again this year, and we'll only be picking a destination when we are 100% sure we can book it straightaway! 😊

Cross all your fingers for us please! Reply to this

Ren, the good thing is that people know your work and want to hire you so when you do finally get break you'll have all the money to spend and won't have any worries. Good luck with finding the right time and location. Reply to this

May will see us return home for a wedding and subsequently necessary visa update. However, come the end of November we will hit the road again and be in Mexico, slowly heading south. We can't say that Mexico has particularly been calling, but such destinations usually wow; looking forward to being bowled over. Reply to this
