Need Advice on Houseboat & Hill Station trip to Kerala in May'16

Hello everyone,

My wife and I will be in Kumarakom 05/28-05/31 and in Thekkady 06/01-06/04. I can't wait to escape from the snow (it actually snowed here last night)

Because our schedule is so tight and it's a peak season, I'm trying to reserve a houseboat (overnight starting 05/29).

First I tried <snip>, who first said an overnight AC houseboat would be Rs. 7500, which I think is reasonable. But somehow they stopped responding (I called them up, they said they will replay the same day but that never happened). I'm also concerned that they are not based in Kumarakom.

Then I contacted <snip>They emailed me back saying there's only one boat left on 05/29 and that would cost Rs. 13,500 for a couple. This sounds very much like a ripoff scheme, doesn't it

Can anybody recommend other places I can contact for making a houseboat reservation? Or do you guys think I can find one in the morning and start a trip at noon? I'm getting worried because it IS a peak season.

I would appreciate any help...
