Brazilian Professionals Visiting New York
9 years ago, October 16th 2014 No: 1 Msg: #186062
Hello,

I have a group of Higher Education professionals visiting from Brazil to New York for an event in November. I was provided their job titles but I am unsure of how these translate into the U.S. system.

- What position would a Higher Education Superintendent be equivalent to in the US?
- What position would a Higher Education Rector be equivalent to in the US?
- What position would a Higher Education Pro-rector be equivalent to in the US?
- What is the difference between a teacher and professor in Brazil?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Reply to this

Hi Colleen -

Without knowing what specifically these individuals are the superintendent or rectors of, a rector would be the equivalent to a U.S Dean, and a pro-rector is likely an Associate Dean. Superintendent is probably the equivalent to a Chancellor/Provost, though the head of the university would be the President. Reply to this
