Looking for a course that will enable me to work anywhere in the world.

Hi,

I'm from Australia, and I'm looking for an RSA course to do that will enable me to work overseas. I've tried Googling, but I don't know exactly what to look for. I want to be able to have the freedom to work in a bar or cafe wherever I go. Can anyone help?

Courses I'm looking for are:
1. RSA
2. Barista course
3. Food service
4. Occupational health and safety

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Saki 😊

I think, to work internationally in food outlets work permits are more a barrier, than actual qualifications.

I have worked in Canada, Germany, England and Ireland in cafes and delicatessens, while I was a student. I had no qualifications in catering or food service, and I was not a student of these things. I also worked in a bar in England at one stage, without any qualification.

Another thing to consider is, that what is a qualification in one country is no more than a useless piece of paper in another. In your position, I would just get jobs where I can, and not bother with qualifications for the food service industry.

Short qualifications that might increase your chances of getting jobs would be 'teaching English as a foreign language'(if English is your first language), office qualifications such as typing and word processing...And, maybe you could build on these later when you stop travelling, or stop travelling for a while, by entering a degree course in IT or something else.
