My boyfriend's 40th birthday is in January, and we want to celebrate by traveling to a great beach during that month. He loves the heat, and enjoys snorkeling and scuba diving. We would also like this beach to offer varietal food and tourist shopping. Nightlife and a great US exchange rate would be a plus, but not mandatory. Suggestions??? Thanks. Reply to this

If you are in the States....Harbour Island....little paradise on earth in the Bahamas. Not a huge amount of shopping, but no crowds too...pretty private...and pink sands beach...the dream! Reply to this

Where abouts are you and how far are you willing to travel? If youre looking for beaches then i guess you want to head towards the equator wherever you are and some sort of island 😊

The carribean islands, greek islands, asian islands and pacific islands all have fantastic beaches, different foods, big tourist destinations or hidden treasures and these days all available in less than 24 hours from pretty much any destination.

I think my favourite island in the world is barbados as i loved the lush hilly area in the middle, the great beaches, the fantastic flavoursome food, amazing people and relaxed and super happy atmosphere. If i suddenly had $10million i'd definitly retire to barbados and buy a rum shack on the beach 😊)

Hi, sorry i dont remember the name of hte hotel we stayed in. I was just looking at a map and the area of St Lawrence sort of seems correct...15 minutes south of bridgetown. We were somewhere that had a long stretch of road along a beach covered in restaraunts and relaxing bars. The hotel was quite nice (maybe 4 star) but we went for cricket and travelling around so didnt really hang out at the hotel much - just wandered out for dinner each night. Maybe see if you can find any blogs for there and see what htoels they stayed in - seems to be quite a range including the hyatt depending on the luxary-ness you are after 😊 Reply to this

What about Thailand?

Tickets are pretty cheap after December - January onward.

You can definitely snorkel, dive, swim, ski, etc. all around Thailand (southern part ) such as Phuket, Krabi, Hua Hin, Phi Phi Island, Koh Chang, etc etc etc...this just keeps going on - but yeah, many nice places!
