A lot of the people on this forum are intense travelers. Some are doing many trips a years. Others are saving up to leave for a year and are doing again. Others live in a new country and adapt to a new culture. The question is what do you do when you feel nostalgia taking the best of you? What do you do when you just want to leave again?

As you say, when you return you may miss it. You enjoy being home for a while. It is good to see friends and family and get centered again but soon your mind will wander. At first you will be content with the memories and looking at the photos. Soon you'll be planning a weekend, then something longer more substantial. Happy travels.
Reply to this It is too normal to be happen, well honestly i always experience the same thing especially when something remains tremendous for me like Barcelona(Spain) Sydney (Australia) and Dubai all these places are simply amazing and my most favorite ones to be visited undoubtedly unforgettable.
Reply to this Do you ever play that mental game.....which countries do I like enough to go back to...which countries would I know go back to?
My mind wanders...relives all those great times...and makes me want to hit the road again.
Reply to this I'm also a travel addict 😊
I can stay calm for 2-3 weeks, maybe, then I start feeling the urge to travel again.
What I do when I am not traveling?
I constantly read travel sites and travel blogs. I watch photos and keep dreaming, even calculating my next trips, as long as 1-2 years in advance.
In my opinion, there's nothing better than TRAVELING!
Reply to this When I feel the 'hunger' kicking in I put my positive energy to good use and research future trips. I categorise by best month to visit and when I have time off granted from work I look at my list of places during that month.
Reply to this Hey all...probably much like all of you avid travelers when I start to get that "itch" I begin planning my next adventure, usually welllllllll ahead of time. It gives me something to look forward to and I love researching new places to explore. I also come here and read random people's blogs or people who I follow to get me in that mode of being on the road which really does help believe it or not.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents 😊

Reply to this In response to: Msg #186778 Chris, I love your way of planning! I make lists all the time, but never thought of doing one of the places to visit by month... I must start one immediately!
Reply to this OMG peel me off the ceiling, I can't wait for my next trip! I LIVE TO TRAVEL!
Unfortunately the illusive 'money tree' is never close enough for me to shake! So I try to enjoy my daily LIFE while I save up for the next big adventure. Everyone is different as you pointed out, and I'm never envious of other travellers or their methods, I'm super satisfied at my pace and where I've been. Travelblog allows me to look to others for insight and advice, whether they are weekend warriors or Yearlong gappers.
I particularly like to travel for 3 months at a time so I can get a better snapshot of what it is really like at the locale but I must sacrifice, I work lots of overtime and go without luxuries in order to make it happen. Travel is my priority.
Reply to this We travel once a year, which is both good and bad. On the down side - there is so much of the world to see that only travelling for a month each year can sometimes seem frustratingly short. But on the up side - it gives us the ability to focus time and money on the other loves in our lives at home; and we are ALWAYS shortlisting or planning the next trip, which I absolutely love doing
Reply to this I have set up my screen-saver to display photos from my travels. When I get a glimpse of a photo it takes me straight back to that journey and I can relive it.
Reply to this As soon as I'm back I start planning for my next trip...The trip might or might not happen..but just the planning ,googling keeps me excited .
Reply to this I must admit we've only had one week travel in the past year and it is NOT enough. We are aching to go, go, go.
We took a wonderful, amazing blues cruise in January but to us that was more of a "wonderful vacation" not our usual type of travel.
We loved it and will do it again but we truly love going off the beaten path to explore new lands and new places. We love getting to know the people, the culture, visit a few museums, experience the foods and music.
In 2007 we quit our jobs, sold our house and put our life in storage. We traveled the U.S. for over 2 months visiting friends and family. Then we headed oversees for our first around the world trip for several months. Our reason for doing it when we did was we wanted to travel before age began to make changes in our bodies that would prevent us from seeing exotic and foreign lands.
Coming back home is more of an adjustment than we thought it would be and we were smart enough to know it would be tough.
In 2007 we were naive enough to think this trip would "get it out of our system".....sadly, happily it changed our lives and going back to work was painful. We traveled each year as our jobs would allow and then in 2012 we traveled around the world for 6 months and in 2014 we spent a month in Ireland.
As described by others we are travel addicts and want to go all the time now.
Right now we are in work mode saving for travel, travel, retirement, and some travel.
Hope to be on the road again. .... and we really want to go scuba diving again soon.
Always working on a few plans and outlines. Always reading blogs to find that next great place that we need to get to and sometimes had not considered. Travel blog is a great resource for our minds and helps with accurate details for the planning.
Reply to this Hands down the feeling of no stress and the freedom of being on the road!
