Which borders have you crossed.
One thing comes to my mind, which I saw this year in Nicosia, Cyprus:
Just like in Berlin, Germany the actual border divides the center of the old town and the whole city and island. There is also UN personal securing it. The crossing is quite convenient, although. I walked the famous Ledra Street in the Greek part until I suddenly arrived at the crossing point by foot. The check is quite short, just a question about cigarettes. Then I was on the other side (the turkish one).
