HELP!! Rome rail station to cruise port

I need advice on getting to the cruise port.

The of us will be traveling on 6/30/11 and will arrive at the Rome rail station. We need to get to the cruise port. The cruise line offers transfers from the airport to the port. So we need to figure out a way to get to the airport from the train station. The Metro runs but can you carry luggage on the Metro? We are trying not to get a taxi because of the cost. Any advice? I've actually done this! Yes, you can carry luggage on the metro but if you really wanted to save some cash, just take the train from Rome to Civitavecchia (I'm assuming that's where you're getting on the ship). You'll pay a fraction of the price the cruise company will charge you for transers. I followed the directions in the link below but in reverse obviously. Gosh, just keep an eye on your bags in Rome...

Holler if you have any more questions about this trip! Have fun!!
