we just had all of our vaccinations done and obviously the malaria subject came up. The nurse told us we need them for the whole stay in Laos and Cambodia and also Malaysia and Brazil. that would probably add up to around 300£ per person for pills. I have spent 6 months in India before and did not take any pills and was fine. In the same time I was watching my friends having some really nasty side effects. So apart from the cost I would much rather prefer to avoid taking them but quite scared of the risk as well. Does anybody bought malaria pills while being in Asia - is it cheaper?? Just in case we change our mind when travelling ;-) Reply to this

We began taking the medication while we were traveling in Indonesia but the pills made us sick so we stopped. We were fortunate not to have any issues.

We spent a lot of money on those pills and ended throwing them away.

Yeah, it is easy and much cheaper to buy pills in most Asian cities. Anyway, Doxycycline is pretty cheap, even in the U.K. I still have six months worth left, any takers?! Reply to this
