What is the best way for my 83 year old mom and her family to travel around Italy?
My mom who is a fairly healthy 83 year old would like to take one last big trip. She would like to go to Italy again. She wants her family (me) to join her. She has done the expensive cruises around the country. This time she would like to show us some real Italy, instead of what the cruise ships show you. The only problem is my mom would like not to pack and unpack every night. I was wondering if there is a way to accomlish this. If we were doing this state-side we could rent a recreational vehicle. Is this an option in Italy? What are the choices? I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you!

I'm not sure if recreational vehicles are common in Italy. I don't think its something that a lot of families do in the summertime for vacation. The roads are narrow and especially inside towns there are some tight hairpin turns that would be difficult in a larger vehicle. Another option might be to rent a house and base yourself from there taking day trips and the like.
