Could I get a little guidance?
13 years ago, November 18th 2010 No: 1 Msg: #123261
So, I am trying to launch this thing and make it you know, an interesting, informative blog site that people wanna check out. Suggestions? Comments? I don't know much about blogging. How recent do things have to be, or do I have to be on the trip? Can I publish about old trips if the information is updated and its a great story extending useful information about that place?
I travel fairly often, and always have things to write about whether it be a book review, safety tips, newsy stuff, etc, I just need a little guidance on how to get you reading! So let me know what you think. All constructive criticism and suggestions are much appreciated!! Reply to this

Hi Gabrielle,

Blog entries can be as recent or as you like - some members blog about trips they did 10 years ago or longer (before TB existed!). And you definitely don't have to currently be travelling.

Good photos are often what tempt someone into reading the full blog entry, so a few which are relevant to the entry would help get more views.

Best of luck with the writing! Reply to this

Why don't you check out some other people's blogs and decide what makes you want to read them.

A good start is the Travelblog Hall of Fame and the front page and bloggers of the week. They were chosen for a reaon.

The bottom line is that a travelblog is yours. You can choose if you write about something recent or ages ago, whether you blog on a trip or when you get home, whether you write as if you are still there or as if you came home already.

So long as you keep within the rules of Travelblog of course! Reply to this

Hello Gabrielle, your questions are good ones that most new bloggers muse about at times.

I've dug through the archives and can recommend these two threads which could be of assistance:

Writing for the Web - blog style tips.

Tips for Increasing the Views of Your Travel Blog

I'll make both of these sticky as they are very useful. Reply to this
