e-travel guides

has anybody ever used them? I'm going to Canada (Ottawa, Montréal, Toronto) in 2 weeks and I'm thinking of buying an e-guide and putting it on my smartphone..? A friend recommended it to me when we were talking about my journey (to be honest I did not know that they exist before... ) he just mentioned that there are many publishers providing them...So is there something I should pay attention to?? Do you have any hints for me? Is lonely planet a good choice?
Thank you for every answer

yeah i've got myself some lonely planet e-books for the countries i'm going to. you don't have to buy every single chapter either. another option is to scan them into a PDF document (if your smartphone can read PDFs, i'm probably going to buy a kindle for that reason) if you've already bought the physical guide books.
