Need to get travel insurance before we set off.
HELP....We are just about to go travelling to South America, before we go we are trying to organise insurance but quotes vary from £250 - £750 for two of us. Since most of you out there are already travelling can you pass on some tipps about which companies you used and who are reasonable.... have you made any claims and how did they treat you?
Reply to this If you have Household contents insurance with world wide possesions cover on, try to get them excluded, as this will be increasing your premium, and opt for just medical expenses, delays, missed departures etc!
I deal with Fortis at my work, and there always quite reasonable, and i think Extrasure and Endsleigh are ok to, but not sure if they limit the number of your days to your trips
Reply to this It really depends how long you are going for. But Endsleigh are definitely the best if you are gonna be away a while - they have a dedicated backpacker policy which is pretty useful.
Obviously having a policy dedicated solely to backpackers they will have dealt with the sort of claims that arise when backpacking so would be pretty efficient.
For 2 of you for a 12 month trip you would be looking at £365. Well worth the money in my opinion.
Reply to this Thanks guys, we are travelling for six months so I will check out the Endsleigh option... we originally looked at trailfinders bt were shocked at the cost....
Reply to this Check out the travel insurance we recommend on this site:
world nomads - I personally use them - but haven't yet had to make any claims.
