Question about travelling with prescription medication

keeping lisinopril pills safe when traveling?
13 years ago, July 6th 2010 No: 1 Msg: #114925
I take 10 mg of Lisinopril for high blood pressure everyday. I am going to be doing a lot of traveling soon and will be flying on airplanes, driving in cars, walking around, etc. Is it necessary to put a cotton ball or something else in my prescription bottle with the medication to make sure the pills don\'t move around and break? Is this even necessary? I just want to make sure the pills stay safe and don\'t break, melt, etc. I was planning on just taking the Lisinopril pills in the prescription bottle as they are and not dealing with cotton balls or anything else, so if you have any advice or reasons on why this is a bad idea, please let me know. Thanks! Reply to this

I think they would not break that easily. I have tried bringing pills and vitamins on my travels and I just put them on regular medicine bottles. Reply to this

Hello Christopher 😊

Id say it is important to keep medication in its original packing, to avoid problems with customs and immigration in some countries, and also have a doctors letter to explain what it is for.

The pharmacy where you buy the medication should be able to give you good advice on what to store it in. I would say a waterproof, tough box, to protect from leaking toothpaste, forgetting about it and sitting on it etc.

Also, consider if this medication is available in the countries you are going to travel in. If it is not, you may need to keep it with your valuables such as passport etc to reduce the risk of it being stolen, if you are robbed.
