Travel in June?

We cannot decide on where to go for our honeymoon!!

Hello everyone,

I been a member of Travelblog for a while now but haven't posted that much on the forums. I'm in the need for some inspiration, so I thought it a good place to ask experienced travellers!

The thing is I'm getting married at the end of May and both myself and my Fiancee are taking the whole of June off for our honeymoon - but we can't decided where to go?
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but just over a year ago we went around the world for a year, so have travelled quiet a few places already.

Previously we travelled; North America (down the west coast), Central America, nearly all countries in South America, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
And to add to that, we've been to India (only Goa though), New York, Japan and lots of places in Europe.

So, my question is, where would you go if you had a month off in June to go anywhere???

The problem we're finding is that June isn't exactly the best month to go away weather wise - unless you stay in Europe or North America!

So, does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks :-) Reply to this

Oh, by the way, the place is in Fontainbleau, near Paris. The place is good for climbing/ sightseeing. The weather in June is supposed to be best actually.

How did you like South -East Asia while you were there?

My vote would be Indonesia. The variety and diversity of the cultures and experiences is immense as every island is different. If you fancy some tacky tourist getaway there's Bali, a bit quieter there's Lombok. Move west or East from these two, you're in for very different experiences, I'm sure there's something for everyone.

I can only comment west from Bali as that's where I've been, but Java was amazing... Gunung Bromo, Borabodur, Yogyakarta. Jakarta's just another big Asian city, but the airport will take you anywhere else you want to go in Indonesia. Sumatra is amazing, Lake Toba is super relaxing, wildlife watching in Bukit Lawang... Everyone loves orangutans right?

The best thing is once you leave Bali (and you definately shouldn't hang around there too long if you do... great shopping though) there are very few tourists around.

June is in the dry season too... Yay!

My wife and I were married in August and we went to Borneo for our honeymoon. We never thought we'd do a RTW a couple of years later so I wanted to make it a holiday to remember. Even though since then we've done some pretty amazing stuff, holding baby turtles and releasing them, and watching orangutans in the wild are still some of my fondest memories.

Have fun with the wedding, I was bricking it before mine, but it ranks up there as one of the three best days of my life (I have two kids now).

Mike.

I'll be interested to see where you go

Thanks for all the suggestions... I think we're gonna go to Indonesia and possibly Borneo - mainly cause of the weather and some of the fancy hotels look amazing!
I suppose we should hurry up and book something as we'll be going in a month!

Thanks again. Reply to this

Go to Europe! You can make a nice trip out of it: Italy-Rome, Spain-Asturias, Portugal-Lisbon
Rome!!!! Wonderful city, many things to see!!! Delicious and relatively cheap food!!! You can find a small hotel in a city center, something very cozy.
Asturias- very recommendable if you like an active holiday and nature. It is beautiful there: mountains, lakes and rivers, fresh air and you can do all kind of activities. I bought a trip through www.pura-aventura.com.
Lisbon is a great city with a lot of history and to be there is it like travel back in time. Tiny streets, small cafes on every corner, people hanging out the window 😊 If you go there, you should stay in a city center, in old neighborhood like Alfama or Mouraria and rent a small apartment (can check here www.lisbonoasis.com).

But the most important: wherever you go, love each other and be happy!!! Reply to this

I think we'll go and travel Europe next year for holidays, I'll take a look at the places you've suggested, still so much to see and do!

We're booked to go off to Indonesia now, in fact go in a few days. I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks again everyone. Reply to this
