I'm a Kenyan, residing in Denmark. I am planning a longer trip to Kenya, and wish to make myself useful while I'm there.

The purpose for this trip is to challenge myself, at the same time have the opportunity to help less fortunate people. The reason why I choose Kenya is because I have my roots and family there, so I see it as a chance for me to bond with them.

I speak fluent Danish and English. And speak Swahili almost fluently.

Because of my multicultural background, I have an understanding for both the western and African mentality. Therefore am I not looking for the traditional volunteer package, but more a place where my skills can be properly used.

My expenses regarding my trip have already been taken care of.

I would love to work with children, either afterschool programmes, school and/or in a home for orphans etc.

hello mercy!

June is a good time to go to kenya aimply because its quite cool and the end of the short rains of april and may. I understand you would like to do some voluntary work in particular working with children doing afterschool programmes while in kenya and thats great.

There is an orphange in the outskirts of nairobi in muguga just about 20 minutes by road from nairobi which has children from the ages of 2 year olds to 18+ and has about 12 children. This is a mixed orphage and the children and their parents are very accommodating. Am sure your skilss will be most apreciated plus you might also be asked to help in food preparation.

The home is called wajibu wetu. Hope this is the kind of work you are looking to do. Reply to this
