I study them pretty well before hand and write down things i want to see in a journal i carry with me. Internet is in many places i have traveled, so if need be, i always just use the magical Google. Reply to this

Lorriann-----I think travel books have a limited life for much inside the covers. Having written this I consider the books disposable. I also never pay full price and can pick up many at discount book stores. I take out the pages containing the information I want or need and carry just those pages with me. On a recent trip to South America we visited several countries and I had one or two guide books on each. No way was I going to carry all that weight. I removed selected pages and carried them along. I must admit my pages didn't look all that good when I returned home, however because the books were still fairly new I reinserted the pages into the books.I tried to insert selected pages into my iPhone however the print was too small and under some light conditions very hard to read. Hello Lorriann 😊

I just take one with me. Sometimes, I buy one that covers more than one country, to avoid the need to have several books with me. For example I have 'South East Asia on a Shoestring by Lonely Planet' and 'The Rough Guide to Europe' and 'South America on a Shoestring, by Lonely Planet'...
