One of my blogs,
Winter Routines., is about how melancholy Ukraine feels as autumn turns to winter. A comment I received yesterday reads:
"You are one miserable sod, I felt like topping myself just reading that. Sort your life out."
Obviously the person didn't put a name or email address. I didn't think travel blogs had the potential to make people so angry!

Not sure what about it that attracted that comment, but we deleted it anyway.

They certainly do. Making nasty annonomyous comments on blogs is a popular hobby. Some bloggers have people who follow them around, putting nasty comments on all their blogs. There are a few threads about it on TravelBlog. I will dig them up later and post links to them here.
why comment at all?
Probably just unhappy people, taking it out on people on the internet.
Reply to this I think that it at least means it was well written - as if it was terrible no one would bother commenting on whether or not they agreed with the sentiment behind it. It is sad that they feel the need to be mean especially if they aren't at least debating something that has been said.

I've had some classic mean comments - some people just feel that they can infer sweeping statements about an author based on a few hundred words reflecting on a particular moment. A sweeping statement in return is that these kind of people are obnoxious idiots 😊 - don't let them get you down 😊

It is easy to insult people. It is what some people are good at, so I suppose it is why they do it. It is a bit sad, that they cant be good at writing blogs instead. 😊
Reply to this Well, you know sometimes those who leaves comments in blogs aims it for not helping out or not being suggestive, helpful or not for the purpose of leaving comments or advice but for leaving links. its a good thing that there are such thing as Akismet that helps in filtering those spam messages. but, considering that it could also be an issue that since our blogs are visible globally, people who are not able to express themselves in English pretty well, like me for some time, may have a different meaning to the posts they have made

No, I dont think that is the case. Some of the comments are unmistakably nasty.
As for the links, that is SPAM. If you receive comments with links on them, would you send a Copy and Paste of the comment through the Contact US. If the comment is blatant SPAM, then the link can be blacklisted.
