Hi, I'm trying to organise money for my trip, mainly in uganda, tanzania and kenya. Does anyone have any experience using the 'Cash Passport' through travelex in these countries? is it accepted / worth having? Considering my bank will charge something like 20% interest when i use my visa card i'm not all that excited about that (or carrying 2 months worth of cash around). And i've heard that these cash passports work anywhere visa is accepted....
THANKS 😊
Reply to this Hello Jess 😊
What is a cash passport? I have never heard of it.

Reply to this Transferring your cash onto your credit card is an easy way to get past paying the interest. It means you've got some extra protection too against fraud etc., as oppose to just using a debit card. Make sure you've got a Visa card for Africa though, as there are a lot of places where Mastercard are not excepted e.g. Zambia. Sorry, but I don't know if it's accepted in the countries you've listed. Maybe someone else on here will know.
Reply to this I was in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya last year but cannot remember if Cash Passport was there - I didn't look out for it so it is possible I missed it.
Another option is the Visa debit card option - it comes directly from your account and depending on your bank, the monthly fees are either very low or there are no fees at all. That is what I used last year, and there were enough ATMs around to access the money I needed.
Reply to this Works in Tanzania and Rwanda ( I was there November 2008), I regularly use this a fair bit when i travel. Cashpassport works on any Visa ATM. U should not have a problem.
