Hi everyone hope you can assist me, friend of mine are planning a trip to Macaneta island resort in mozambique just North of Maputo. has anyone been there? are the beaches nice? the pics do not look great and i have only been to Inhambane. can you do a crash diving course there and is it pretty?
If anyone has any info please let me know

Hi Christina,I will try and help.Macaneta is Great depending on what you want to do.I virtualy live on the island. It is not the ideal diving spot and I do not know of anyone offering diving courses we do however do some snorkeling in the area. The closest good diving is in the marine reserve off Inhaca island and that is about 40 minutes by boat from Macaneta. The beach is stunning and streches for eternity. The beach is very clean and not crowded,In the mornings there is lots off fishing with nets by the locals that row out their colorful boats with nets and then pull in the nets manualy. The swiming is good at low tide and the sea is normaly very placid.I have not experienced particular strong currents.I note you like snowboarding,we go up the coast from macaneta towards Bilene there is some huge dunes where we sandboard it is totaly awsomeThe nice thing is that it is not a long yourney on bad roads. It takes only about one and a half hours from the border. There are a few accomadation options depending if you want to camp or go into a chalet.visit www.macanetaislandresort.com

Hi Willie thank you this is very helpful.
it sounds stunning!!! i am not a big fan of Durban like packed beaches so this suites me perfectly...
we will be camping there.
do you know how much it costs do dive at inhaca? and would i be able to do a diving course there as i have not yet done one?
as long as i can snorkel then i do not mind but would love to give it a shot as everyone else will be diving.

Any otgher tips would be so appreciated, and the dune boarding sounds fabulous!!
thank you again!

You should have no problem getting in two dives.A snow board is fine.Camping at Macanta island resort is R100pppd and it is right on the beach.Snowboarding is R120 pd excl a board. It is normaly a long day as the trip is about 2 and a half hours one way .

Hi guys...
I will be visiting Macaneta this December and wanted to know if its possible to get a boat in Macaneta to take me to Incaha Island & Bilene as the resort i am staying at does not offer boat trips- and also the prices for this.
are there any night life spots to spend NYE in Macaneta?
and finally... is there anything that i should see, take or attempt that no one cares to tell? Reply to this
