Best Beaches in Zanzibar?

hi Casey, I'm so jealous that your going off to Zanzibar. I did the same thing in 2005, kili, safari and 6 days on the island. Fantastic memories. My advice about beaches is to head up to the north of the island Kendwa or Nungwi. However, they are a bit of a trek from the airport and Stone Town, so if you want to visit the island capital it will take 2/3 hrs each way by car/taxi.

I stayed at a small place, White Sands Beach Hotel, which is next to the Kendwa Rocks resort. Its run by a dutch couple, so very laid back. Just what i needed after climbing kili. Its perfectly located along the best beach i have ever seen and a short walk along the beach takes you to the Kendwa Rocks bar, which is a bit more lively in the evening. The food is excellent and well priced, likewise for the drinks prices. More lively still is Nungwi, a little further north. Its a bit busier and has the occasional full moon party if your timing is on. Its easy enough to get to in the evening by taxi. Hi, I would also suggest the beach at the east coast. They have some decent snorkeling places. The best place to stay there is Robinsons place - a very unique and tranquil place - it is like heaven.
