Just reading a book called 'Vagabonding - An uncommon guide to the art of long-term world travel' by Rolf Potts. I like his take on the travel experience - not overplanning, not over relying on technology, books too much, enjoying the experience of the unknown and how they turn out to be the best experiences, obviously with a little planning beforehand and a general awareness. I like his thinking and agree with him.

What risk? There are phones and internet almost everywhere. It is not like you would have no way to make contact.......

I never take a phone, laptop or camera etc with me, but it is because I dont want to have to look after them rather than '' just to say you didnt take any techo with u! ''
I like to be able to leave my bag someplace, without having to lock it up and also less stuff means lighter bag to carry.

Agree with lighter for sure! Today was crazy in the heat with backpack on! BUT! Get me fitter, stronger and if I go camping in the wilderness ( which I hope to do) then if a big bad bear comes to eat me at least I might have 5 seconds to call for help.......granted all that would be left is my laptop and phone but least will have something to leave my little bro :p Reply to this
