what is the worst hotel you've ever stayed in? be sure to provide all the gruesome and gory details...

the worst we've stayed in was a 150 baht (3 euro) per night hostel in Phitsanulok, Thailand (near the ancient Sukhothai city about 5 hours south of Chiang Mai). We definitely got what we paid for. The room was literally as big as the double bed and you had to crawl over the bed to open the window. They turned the electricity off at 11pm. There was no running water - you dipped a bowl into a bucket of water and splashed yourself with it. The toilet was a squat toilet and similarly had to be manually flushed. The 'pillows' were a couple of hard sandbags. The place was swarming with mosquitos and the area was rampant with prostitution.

Not somewhere you want to bring your kids to. Reply to this

Hello Jian 😊

I stayed in the dirtiest place I ever stayed in, in the desert in Egypt. I wore all my clothes in bed, to avoid touching the filthy sheets as much as possilbe. When I wanted to go to the bathroom, I had to get fully dressed, because it involved walking past the reception which always had 10 pairs of brown male eyes that followed me from the moment I entered the reception to when I left and maybe after that too. It was impossilble to go into the bathroom without shoes because of the 2 inch deep pool of dirty water that covered the floor. That sandals I wore were inadequate but I had no wellies with me.

After the first night in that place I moved 100M to another hotel. The price was the same. It was spotlessly clean, and I had an ensuite bathroom in my room, and there was a cosy restaurant to have snacks and tea in.

The Hotel La Serre in Paris... you would not believe this dump. Mold everywhere, dirty sheets, non-functional TV, phone, safe and lamp. Winos living in the entryway. Broken tile in the bathroom... I actually put together a webpage with pictures and a blow-by-blow of this heap.. Check it out:

My very bad experience is hotel Alcron in Prague. Dirty bedding, bad service, unpleasant people. Never more. Reply to this
