I am going on holiday in June and would like to cross to Zambia to the Falls. I heard that there is a ferry to cross to the Zambian side as I am not in the mood for another encounter with the Zim Police ripping me off US Dollars for nothing. Any one with info on this. We would like to sleep on the Zambian side for 1 or 2 nights and exit the same way. Thx Reply to this

Yes, you can cross the border here from botswana and it´s then about 90km up the road to livingston. I can´t remember the price for a cab but it wasn´t too expensive. The border point is also next to Chobe national park and i would fully recommend a trip out here on a cruise.

good luck!

Thank you for the info. Can I take my 4x4 accross on the ferry as I was to camp for a night or w2 on the Zambian side? I am staying in Chobe for the remainder of the holidays and will certainly do a couple of trips. Reply to this

As far as i know you can, there were people doing that whilst we went across. We came across on an overland truck into botswana from zambia and by foot from botswana to zambia

Only thing of note was that there was massive que for traffic going across especially HGV´s but i think smaller vehicles can get to the front. the ferries were quite small and could take 1 trcuk and some smaller vehicles in 1 load. This was last June though, so it will have changed knowing Africa! Reply to this

I went in August/September and yeah it was fairly small but there isn't necessarily a long wait. We went over in a big truck and I think we got over straight away. Reply to this
