Step Up Travel Classifieds [www.stepuptravel.org] is a Sustainable Travel website that that hosts apartment rentals and activities posted by local Brazilians. Step Up Travel encourages travelers to support local people while they travel and experience Brazilian culture authentically.
Step Up Travel is based on the U.N.’s and the World Tourism Organization’s ST-EP initiative which stands for Sustainable Tourism-Eradication of Poverty. Step Up Travel has modified the concept to Sustainable Travel that Empowers People and has created www.stepuptravel.org as a travel classifieds website where local people can post apartment rental and activities such as Samba/Forro dance lessons, music and cooking lessons, Capoeira classes, Portuguese instruction, excursions, and more
.
In travel today, most accommodations and activity arrangements are made online and organized by foreign run outfits that profit from LOCAL resources. This is not sustainable because income from travelers leaks out of the country and remains inaccessible to local people. Step Up Travel provides sustainable travel where travelers genuinely experience Brazilian culture with local people who are directly involved, which creates a positive impact in the local community.
We invite all travelers to Brazil to participate in Sustainable Travel that Empowers People and to have amazing experiences with local people.
Reply to this Step Up Travel is an up and coming resource for travelers looking for authentic/cultural experiences with Brazilian local people. The website is essentially a travel classifieds designed to connect travelers directly with local people. You can
rent apartments, contact
Portuguese teachers,
Samaba dance teachers, assorted
Brazilian music teachers, all kinds of
sports and recreation, and more. This site was designed by two medical students who have extensively traveled and found it difficult to connect with local people and genuinely experience culture and learn language, dance, music, sports, while traveling. The founders of the site are very responsive at info@stepuptravel.org
