I am looking for some voluntary work in Africa that can take care of minimum expenses. Any help is appreciated.

Hi all,

I have been trying to find some non profit organizations in Africa where I can work as a volunteer. I do not want a high profile job, but bare survival wage would also help that could take care of food and lodging.

Currently I am working with Bank of America and am looking to take a break for around a year.

Could not find any such organization on the internet. Any help regarding the same would be appreciated.

Hello Rohan

This is a very good question - there was a discussion about this in the forum during 2007, where someone was bemoaning the high cost of volunteering. The thread, named Volunteer Community/Aid Work contains some great links to sites that hopefully will provide you with many options.

Look into a program called ELI (experiential learning international) I believe that their website is ELIabroad.org or something like it. I am in that program and they have places in Africa that they put you up in a host families house. I am not sure of the length of time you can do but it is a very good program! Reply to this
