Hello William 😊

You can prebook some trains on the internet, but in some countries this makes it more expensive than buying a ticket at the train station. For European Union countries you can go to the websites of the various train companies and buy the tickets online. If you buy a few months in advance you can also score good bargains.

I dont think you will need to wait long for public transport wherever you go. Trains and busses go frequently in most countries.

....can i just arrive in Warsaw get a train to Moscow and then just go to the station and book my train?

That is generally the way I do it. I only prebook when prebooking means I will get a better price. Sometimes you might have to wait for a few hours or a day for the next train or bus to go, but there are plenty of bars and cafes you can hang out in while you wait. Note that there might not be a direct train line between some cities so you may need to change trains someplace along the way.

... how does flexi travel affect visas etc.

That depends on the country. They have different rules. If I was in your position I would find out as much about the visa rules of the places you want to go as possible. It would be a pain to find yourself having to fly over a country because you did not get the visa in the UK and it is not available in the country you are in.
