Leaving on a RTW ticket for 9 months, any suggestions or recommendations on what to take? Is there a comprehensive list that anyone has compiled? Thanks

Here's a list from a while back on the forum.

And the Travel Guide has some good stuff on.

My Stuff
  • Clothes
  • Sandals
  • Hiking Boots
  • Heavy Duty Trainers
  • Flip Flops - avoid foot diseases.
  • Poncho (later Lightweight Waterproof after loss of poncho. Looked like a fool in it anyway.)
  • Leatherman (pocket multitool)
  • Duct Tape
  • Eletrical Insulation Tape
  • String and Rope/Cord
  • Elastic Bands... They were useful!
  • Camera
  • Guidebook
  • Journal
  • Pens and Paper/Notebooks
  • Address Book
  • Reading Books x2 (one to read - spare in case no gooduns to swap)
  • Minidisc Player and Minidiscs. Oh how I wished I could've had an MP3 player in those days...
  • First Aid Kit
  • Wash Bag
  • Travel Towel
  • Beach Towel
  • Sun Tan Lotion and Aftersun
  • Documents (and duplicates of)
  • Passport
  • Fake Wallet
  • Money Belt (incl. cards, money etc)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sleeping Bag and Liner(cotton - but go for silk)

I'll add some more later. I like this. It's kind of a challenge to remember what I took, and what I would leave behind next time.

Plus - all the 'fixing stuff' I took came in handy... Despite people mocking me all the way around the world.
