So let me just start off by saying what an amazing weekend....probably one of the best ever. It started off on Wednesday evening. 32 American students, including myself, got on a bus with a LOT of beer (i still dont like it but its cheap and im getting a lil used to it). We left at 9 30 and arrive in Pucon the following morning at around 9 am. Pucon is near the Argentina border in the Andes mountains. And let me just say..its Beautiful! We stayed at El Dorado which is a large piece of land with beautiful cabañas. I along with 6 friends stayed in one of them. Thursday we spent the day at lakes and Hot Springs (we ran from hot spring to hot spring and in between jumping under the frigid water ... read more

I´ve had the best experience of the trip so far and its only day 3. After an initial day spent taking in the sights in Santiago, we wanted to get out of the city and away from the thick smog that covers much of it. So, we decided to take a day trip to the Maipo Valley and the Andes mountains near the Chile-Argentina border. We trekked to about 3400 metres and took in a spectacular glacier and gazed down at a massive valley, surrounded by imposing snow-capped mountain peaks on all sides. Lunch was had on a ledge overlooking the valley. With a cup of Chilean red wine in one hand and a tuna sandwich in the other, it was almost surreal being in the rocky expanse with not another soul in sight for miles. ... read more

The once april gets going apparently school is scarce as students are always striking.....I love it!!! Tomorrow we are all leaving for Pucon and come back on sunday. Okay- so its been awhile and a lot has happened. I arrived here in Viña on the 20th and have been busy ever since. I life in a beautiful house in Viña del Mar and attend the Universidad Catolica in Valparaiso. The two cities are different but next to each other so are considered as one. It takes only 10/15 mins for me to get from my house to the University. I am only a few blocks away from the beach--where i have been spending all my free time of course- and only 3 blocks from one of the most popular bars for the students. Claudio (my host dad) is 41 and is a civil engineer. He also raises pure breed german shepards and participates in dog shows--his dogs are some of the best in Chile ... read more

Thank god I was able to leave my luggage at the bus station...i really did bring way too much..oh well! Caro and I went out last nite to Wilkenny...the hot spot now in Bariloche. It is an irish pub but its great cause everyone..and i mean everyone goes! We were quite the hit on the dance floor.
