I normally get out of breath back in the states when climbing up a mountain but my god. the altitude seriously affects ur breathing when climbing up! the mountains were as high as the city of la paz. but i didnt get sick. phew! but we were all huffing and puffing. it started raining on the way back. wait, did i say rain??? i meant, HAILING! hahah. luckily i brought my 100 dollar REI rainjacket. (thanks jd for convincing me to buy it! haha). but i had a great time... took lots of great pictures. we got back around 4. Nicky and I felt ... read more

So two days have past since I last wrote on here and I dont even know where to begin! I had salsa dance lessons at my school the other night. About 10 other students were there. It was such a great time. Im not gunna lie.... ive got some good moves. =P we all had a good time though. Im thinking about signing up for more salsa lessons at a real dance school though. but im also thinking about buying a guitarr and take guitarr lessons. lessons here in anything is extremely cheap! so i might as well take advantage of it. Ive been getting along great with the family. The only thing that sucks is that they wake up every day for breakfast at 7AM! and they expect me to be there for breakfast too. ... read more

My time in sucre keeps getting better! Today in sucre, the entire town went on Strike along with 5 other areas of Bolivia. Only a few shops were open including my school but other than that it was a day of rest. Also, the police are walking back to Sucre today because the Bolivian government ordered them to. Anyways, I had class today with my professor Maria. Im already learning so much. she is an excellent teacher but every week i have a new teacher. I had a HUGE lunch today with my family. Lunch here is at 100pm but the size of the meals is like our dinners! I rarely ever eat dinner anymore... more just like a snack or something at night. I spent the afternoon with Nancy and Victor (the mom and son) ... read more

Today was much better! I started my 4 hour spanish lesson class. My teacher is extremely nice and I did pretty good! Its been forever since I took Spanish classes. After class, one of the professors took me to a ATM that actually works. Most of the ATMS are closed because there are no police here so it would be easy to be robbed. But i finally got money out and he also showed me where I could buy a SIM card for my cell phone. I called Dad from it, I´m so relieved that it works. However, I need to buy more minutes for it. After that, I went to Joyride Cafe. Lonely planet recommended it.. its a place where all the gringos hang out. a gringo is a person who is traveling south america. ... read more

After our time in La Paz and the pampas we took an overnight bus to Sucre. We didn´t have much planned for Sucre, which worked out well, since the city was shut for a large part of our stay. The people of Sucre regularly hold protests and marches to become the official capital of Bolivia, which was why we spent our first day wandering around wondering why all the stores and cafes were closed. The town regularly shuts down and the people prepare and gather for a march and patriotic speeches in the main plaza late in the day. The next day everything was back to normal...everyone was working, the banks were open, the roads weren´t blocked. But not too fast! Dont get too comfortable being able to get a sandwich or use the internet, because ... read more

sorry guys, we haven´t been able to update our blog for 2 weeks..... This was the original text ¡¡¡Hola!!!We are now in Sucre, or rather just left Sucre. Our plans here were to visit the Dino paths, go to indigenous villages such as Potolo, Maragua or Tarabuco. Instead of all that, we stayed 5 days in Sucre city visiting the hospital. We pretty much know all the staff, nurses and doctors! Renata managed to catch a food bug which would put her to bed for the next 5 days, shouting and screaming, not getting any sleep and not letting anyone use the bathroom as she was constantly occupying it. I had to go to the neighbours... ( Just joking!) Bolivia is really nice but you do have to be careful when it comes to eating raw ... read more
