Salar de Uyuni tour with a well travelled 6 year old

We (dad and 6 year old) will be going to Bolivia/Peru this August and plan to do a 3 day Salar e Uyuni tour. For those who know our blog, my 6 year old is well travelled. I am aware of the climate and altitude y yo hablo espanol mas o menos. I may be with one other friend and want to do a private tour and staying at the better hotels (tayka). THough I would not be completely opposed to a group tour but not with 7 in the jeep. I have considered Fremen and Ruta Verde (who I believe use Fremen and others). I would love any advice, as I have difficult time with trip advisor and trust "our" site more. Thanks in advance. Reply to this

Hi Guys,

We were pretty happy of the people we used last year. The only issue could be the altitude, but nobody can solve that issue. We were 6 in our jeep, we had enough room for everybody. I looked beforehand at the more luxury option, and was happy not to take it, as duringthe tour, you cannot really see the difference between the budget and luxury option.

We used the people at the Rosario hotel, can only recommend them!

Salar de Uyuni and the lagunas of Bolivia and that was a trip!

We just returned from Bolivia with our 6 year old daughter. She's very well travelled. We used Ruta Verde and found them outstanding. We had a private 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser for 4 days, starting in La Paz then to Tahua, Uyuni then Southwest through the desert and exiting Bolivia to San Pedro de Atacama. There are few facilities and restaurants on the long drives between cities and hotels but the sights are amazing. Our driver, Wilson, was very accomodating. We stayed at the Tayka hotels and they are very good for Bolvian standards. We had also looked at Fremen tours but we chose Ruta Verde as we had more personal responses and quick replies to questions on weekends. As well, they had a more favorable cost for the same itinerary. We'd recommend them without hesitation. Have a great time. Reply to this
