What a day of walking! We started out a little bit later than expected after a sleep in until 8:15am. When we woke the weather was a lot better than the previous day and the ground was covered in a small layer of snow. The mountains were covered as well so it provided a very picturesque start to the day. A enough ham and cheese rolls were made to feed a family but today we spiced it up a bit by adding lettuce to the rolls. Some fruit and yogurt was added to the bag and we were prepared for a long hard days trekking. We got the bus to the national park at a cost of 50 pesos each, that’s nearly €25 for the return trip. The journey was only 12km’s so it was extremely ... read more

Hola! I just got back from the national park, which was amazing. I didn´t know what to expect as i hadn´t read too much information or seen many pictures but it was amazing. I wish I could put up pictures but I seem to have forgotten my cord to hook my camera up to the computer. sorry. Yesterday we hiked a very easy but very beautiful trail along Bahia Lapataia and then camped overnight. The place where we camped was cool. It looked like they mowed the grass there because there were so many rabbits. The amount of wildlife we saw was amazing. Tons of different types of birds including parakeets, flightless ducks that paddle with their wings when you scare them, huge bright red headed woodpeckers, and today an enormous condor, lots more too. Also, ... read more

This morning it was certainly time to hike again, and so I joined up with two of my "dorm- mates" Christoph from France and Marco from Spain, and the three of us tackled the remaining hikes in the National Park! After about 20 + km, I am thoroughly tired right now, but it was once again a phenomenal day, with lots of sunshine, incredible views and wildlife along the way! So i am writing this blog as I am enjoying my Quilmes (beer brand) and some chips in the sun room off the hostel! Once again, there is really not much to say, other than that Patagonia so far is everything I hoped it to be, and the fact that the weather is cooperating like it has is just such an extra bonus! So here are ... read more

Oh the mountains! Hiking in Patagonia just like I pictured it! After a very restful night in my Freestyle hostel and a great breakfast, a bunch of people from the hostel took a bus to the Tierra del Fuego NP to go hiking. The bus drops people off at various trails, which makes it really easy for those independent travelers without cars. Carla, a geologist from Spain, and I had decided that we would use the great weather (sun and not to windy) to attempt a hike up the Cerro Guanaco Peak in the park. It is a very steep uphill climb, first through forests and tundra and eventually over snowfields to the peak at 973 m. The trail was extremely muddy, in particular in the tundra like landscape above the tree-line, but the vistas and ... read more

So i eventually managed to drift off at gone 11pm last night and apart from briefly waking up during the night virtually alept through till 8.40 am so i may eventually catch my sleep up. I decided that today was the day i would go to Tierra Del fuego, but i wanted to make sure my passage out of Ushuaia was booked as some places can booked out and then you have to wait days and i do not want to stay here longer than i need to as i have other places to see, Lonely planet says hostel dorms are from about 8 dollars and thats about 4-5 pounds and in fact most hostels are about 9-10 pounds and supposedly provide breakfast, although breakfast comprised of bread and a local spread made of condensed milk ... read more

Eduardo je takovej malej revolucionar, barak ma pomalovanej zvenku obrazkama s protiamerickejma motivama, vevnitr potom vmestnal spoustu vlajek ze sveta a rikal: "Chybi mi tu ceska vlajka, musim pripomenout svymu kamaradovi, aby mi ji konecne privez" Tak z nej vylezlo, ... read more
