Hola once again mi amigos! After a week in Cordoba I thought I would try and stay on top on my Travelblog for once and not wait two or three weeks to inundate you with too much information. Truth is my partying in Buenos Aires finally caught up with me and I've been struck down down with a heavy cold. Bound to happen eventually I guess - at least I wasn't in the middle of a six day trek! So your intrepid traveller has been dosed up with yucky medicine, Nuforen and the Argentine equivelant of Lemsip for a couple of days - tucked up in bed watching a very fuzzy CNN channel, dodgy Knight Rider repeats, and the French Open from Roland Garros! I must admit though, I think I needed a rest. The next ... read more

What I'm about to tell you, you may not believe but it's 100% totally true. Today, Glynn and I literally threw ourselves off a cliff and what's more, we lived to tell the tale! The reason we came to Cordoba, other than to break the long journey to Buenos Aires, was to go paragliding. Yes, you heard me right - paragliding! Not the kind of sport you might expect someone who is afraid of heights to get excited about but when we heard that the paragliding in Cordoba is world class and affordable, we just couldn't resist. We booked via the hostel (we're very comfortable here now by the way!) and found ourselves up nice and early to catch the 8am minibus to nearby La Cumbre. Just over 2 hours and 12 Pesos later, we ... read more

Here we are in buzzing Cordoba, Argentina's second largest city. Getting here was a dream and the semi-cama Flecha Bus was so comfy, we all managed to get a decent amount of sleep on the way down from Salta. Well, everyone but me that is because I made the mistake of drinking a big bottle of Pepsi Max before we travelled so I was riding a caffeine high until well past 2am! When we arrived in Cordoba bus terminal, we parted company with Chet and Carly as we had all booked separate places to stay. We decided to walk to our hostel to save the taxi fare but it was much farther than we expected and it was hard work trying to negociate the pedestrianised shopping area with all our luggage in tow. People aren't so ... read more

Today I went about 35 kms away from Cordoba city to Alta Gracia, where Che Guevara spent most of his childhood. We went to a Jesuit Estancia first, somewhat cool, got too see old Jesuit furniture. I think Ive seen enough Jesuit stuff for a while now though. After that we went to Che´s house, didnt really know too much about Che before going, and now I still dont know much about him, but I do know what his bathroom looked like. It was very interesting to see his house though, had alot of his things on display, spent a good 2 hours or so there. I am interested in learning more about him, I think people here either love him or hate him. Short blog, but thats all I have done so far today. ... read more

Well, Yesterday, in Posadas we went to see the Jesuit ruins, which were pretty interesting actually, I got some really good pictures. After that we went to the bus station where we had to wait around for about 5 hours...went by quickly though. And after that great 5 hours of waiting we got on the 17 hour bus, I slept for about half the time though, so cant complain. After stepping off the bus I got a map ad hauled my big backpack on a 30 minute walk to the new hostel. Its in a good spot, right in the center of the city, and I can finally do some laundry. The city has 1.3 million people in it, reminds me of Buenos Aires, except much smaller of course, which is nice. We looked into ... read more

After the natural wonder that is Iguazu Falls, it was time to head further south to 3 of the major cities in Argentina: Cordoba, Mendoza and Buenos Aires. First up, Cordoba. The direct bus from Puerto Iguazu to Cordoba was supposed to take a mere 21 hours but it ended up taking 25. Go figure. At least we had 6 (yes, 6!) movies to keep us somewhat sane the whole time. The bus was pretty empty, but the two other gringos on the bus and I found a hostel together when we got to Cordoba. I´m no expert, but Tango Hostel has to be one of the best hostels in Argentina. It´s small, so you get to meet people easily, and everyone that works there under 30, or 25 even. A totally laid-back atmosphere, and ... read more

buenos dias y´all!!!!!! in buenos aires, i went to stay in the apartment of gabriel (who is still in brazil). tom (travelor from before who is also staying in gabriel´s apartment) and i decided to have a little barbecue with some friends. the apartment complex is a pretty nice place, with an option to use the swimming pool and grill in the patio on the first floor. there we had a good barbecue, and i started trying to catch some things in my mouth, you know food tricks. at some point i decided to toss a piece of steak in tom´s direction, and in that moment, something clicked in each one of our heads- a food fight was born. the ammunition was left over barbecue, mostly chorizo (sausages) and some pieces of steak. you can tell ... read more
