St. Jacob's Church - Sint-Jacobskerk. Romanesque church built after 1120. The church was extensively renovated and restored twice, between 1733 and 1784 and again between 1866 and 1906. "... the Place St. Jacques, in the middle of which rises the Church of St. Jacques, dating partly from the beginning of the 13th and partly from the 15th century. It was restored in 1870-73. The W. towers and the lower part of the central tower are Romanesque."--Baedeker 1910. IMG_9904

Dawn found Monarch Empress waiting to transit the Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen and then follow the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal twenty miles (32 km) down to the city. Arrival in Gent was through its Dampoort.
