Grote Sikkel. Hoogpoort elevation. Part of the Sikkel complex, an urban mansion, or "Steen", with its origins in the 14th century. Dawn found Monarch Empress waiting to transit the Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen and then follow the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal twenty miles (32 km) down to the city. Arrival in Gent was through its Dampoort.
