Hi I would like to discuss about taking time off because lately I've been hearing a lot from people that they simply cannot take time off. Sometimes I do feel that way but I have to take time off in order to see new places and have to benefit my health, etc. I'm always traveling so time and all mean nothing lol. Anyways, I've traveled to more than 32 countries and 30 states plus Washington DC. My next trip is off to Mexico Cruise from Los Angeles and in the summer time I'm going to travel to Alaska Cruise as well as a little roadtrip to Glacier, Montana/Alberta! I'm a world travleers and always will be. Plus I'm a USA Pioneer which I've traveled to more than 30 states. Plus I'm a NAFTA (North American Traveler) ... read more

Sharon went to mass while I got caught up on the blog. We went to the Vista Dining Room where we were seated across from each other at a table for six with two other couples. I had French Toast, link sausage, potato cakes and Swiss muesli. The steward did a double-take on “potato cakes” and then corrected me as “…oh, hash browns.” Well okay; but, they really are tiny round hockey puck-like potato cakes. They just don’t call them that on Holland America. Sharon had scrambled eggs and potatoes. We went up to the Crow’s Nest to do our Sudoku challenge, and I brought the sheets from yesterday that we hadn’t had a chance to do yet. We found the Crow’s Nest nearly deserted and sat down at a table. I’d beaten Sharon on both ... read more

Being one of those scheduled sea days, we slept in and went to breakfast in the Dining Room. Sharon and I had gone to Vigil Mass, so there was no need to go again this morning. I had the American breakfast with eggs over medium and link sausage and Sharon enjoyed her scrambled eggs. Sharon wanted to go back to the cabin and adjust her choppers; so, I went up to the Crow’s Nest to scout out a place for us to play our Sudoku challenge. I bumped into Ruth on the way and said hey, she was scurrying off to her next activity. We’d see each other again this evening when we would be having dinner with her and some friends in the Pinnacle. Sharon arrived and we played our first game where I easily ... read more

Oceans and Seas » Mediterranean » Adriatic Sea October 8th 2015

Sharon went off to mass while I worked some on the blog, and played some on Word-Crack. The priest on this cruise is from Malta and speaks softly with an accent but seems very pleasant. When she came back we went to the kiosk on Deck 2 to order and print our tour tickets for some of the upcoming ports of call. This is the first ship we’ve been on that has the kiosk and it was very easy and fast to use. We went to the formal dining room for breakfast, and it looked like everyone else had exactly the same idea on this first sea day of the second leg of our cruise. We sat at a table for eight with two other couples: one from Wales and the other, Ian and Liz, from ... read more

We rose again not worrying about any early tours. Sharon went to mass and I worked some on the blog. Later we had breakfast in the Lido: eggs over medium for me with some sausage and far too little potatoes… Sharon had hers scrambled and again was unable to get a lone single piece of crispy bacon. We had to rush off to make our 10AM collector cruise meeting for those 250 or so of us who were continuing on to Barcelona. We received a tag-team presentation from the Destination Specialist Tom and the Excursion Specialist for our upcoming ports of call. Dave gave us the three pieces of information of what we would need to get off the vessel in Venice: 1-Nieuw Amsterdam Room Key Card, 2-Passport and 3-In-Transit Pass Card (that lets us skip ... read more

That first night Sharon ventured down to the piano bar to check out the music; while, I finished up the blog for the day. I failed to mention something that the woman travelling alone had said at dinner, when asked how she was enjoying the cruise so far. She had started in Barcelona and this was her second leg, something that is apparently quite common; although, I have no recollection of others doing the same thing on our honeymoon. I would say about half of the people we’ve met so far are doing just that, taking advantage of the “Legacy Cruising”. Well, it raised all of our eyebrows when she said that she was having just a dreadful time. Her arthritis had flared up, a new condition that now nearly crippled her hands, and she said ... read more

Today was very windy outside we are at sea all day so the pools and shops and restaurants are packed with people, good job we have our secluded area where there are very few people, Lexie found the waterslide and I found the shops yay! she didn't stay too long because she said it got too crowded so we went up top to the One Pool (yacht club only) and her and Margot spent all day in the pool (salt water) and jacuzzi, I went shopping and kept getting lost, Mal sat with Jonathan and David, they are very nice. We looked after Margot while they went off to the spa to have a rest. We went to the talent quest, they run a children's programme while at sea, then we played mini bowling and went ... read more

From the "don't believe what you read department". The seas are calm according to the ship's TV. As I look out my windows the swells are at least fifteen feet with white caps are far as I can see. The spray is blowing in all directions off the swells. The winds are force 9. This is by far the roughest the seas have been since Florida and we're in the Med. Since I love it, I can't complain but it means packing is a bit of a challenge. Yesterday I went ashore in Cartagena. It was another adventure. We walked from the ship to the center of town. All around the banners were out to support the clubs who will be marching all week. It was a beautiful sunny day and once in town, the shade ... read more

Today was our first day on board the ship. The Refection is a beautiful ship, only about 1 year old. This ship has 3 swimming schools, 15 stories, and wonderful restaurants and clubs. Entertainment and food is available 24 hours a day. We left Rome on Monday August Fourth and on August fifth we were at sea all day. We are landing at Santorini, Geece on Wednesday August sixth at 2:00 pm. Attached are some pictures of the ship. We're having a great time and wish you all well.... read more

Enjoying the sunny weather and clear beaches here at Ibiza. Its so peaceful that we dont even see more than 500 people during our stay. Its probably we come at the wrong time, though theres so many shops and restaurants, 90% of them arent open at this season. Really wana feel the real Ibiza and its Hippy market. We just feel like staying at a lonely planet here. "QUIET but PEACEFUL"... read more
