Geo: 42.4441, 18.7816I was up really early to see the entry inthe Bay of Kotor which is the most southerly fiord in Europe. It reminded me of sailing down the Rhine with beautiful mountains dropping down into the sea.. Kotor in Montenegro is a UNESCO protected site because it has a huge continuous city wall which extends up into the hills. We did not fancy climbing over 1000 steps to get to the fortress on top so took a gentle walking tour around the delightful town. At one point in it's history it was protected by the Venetians so the winged lion of St Mark is to be seen in several places. Day 114 Monday 6 July Blois to Rennes 31c We rose about 6.30 and organised our gear then went out to have breakfast. We packed the car, said goodbye to CoCo and set off for Blois with Thierry crossing the Loire on the Francois Mitterrand Bridge. We arrived at the station early and saw that we could catch an earlier train to St Pierre de Cors which might give us a chance to get an earlier train to Le Mans which then might give us more time for our next change. As it was the holidays the train from Blois was not as crowded as we expected but when we arrived in St Pierre de Cors there was no earlier train to Le Mans so we went to the waiting room and sat down. Geo: 12.5143, -69.9774Aruba..6 dager. Aruba er en liten øy nederst i det karibiske hav. Her er det jevn varm temperatur året rundt. Øya har mye ørkenlandskap og finnes ikke frodig i det hele tatt - men den er kjent for sine langstrakte hvite strender og turkise vann. Nordsiden av øya er der hvor alle hotellene og turistene holder til - så der er alt som det skal være for å tilfredsstille turismen. Dag 1 - Ankom ca 1330 - hentet leiebilen og kjørte til leilighetshotellet vi skal bo på i 6 dager. Vi tok vårt første bad på Palm Beach. Vannet er turkisblått og klart, temperaturen er rundt 24 grader. Helge trengte hårklipp så vi måtte finne frisør. Off to Bermuda The day dawned rainy but by the time we were on the George Washington bridge the sun was shining. We are sailing with dear friends Anita and Don. Anita was my Matron of Honor and she graduated high school with Joe. She and Joe celebrate a special Birthday this year so we plan to celebrate all the way to Bermuda and back. The embarkation process was a bit slow and I really didn't like the gauntlet of venders hawking their wares just before the gangway. It seemed a bit tacky to us. This is our first Celebrity cruise and I can't help but comparing it to the HAL experience. Our rooms were not ready so we headed to the buffet for lunch. Day 16 - Virgin Gorda to St Thomas

Geo: 18.3389, -64.9663We left the Rosewood on Virgin Gorda today at 2:00 pm, and caught the 3:00 ferry to St Johns, and then on to St Thomas. We just arrived at the Crystal Palace Bed and Breakfast. It is a huge departure from where we spent the last 4 days. The Crystal Palace was built in the 1930's and not a lot has been done to it. The rooms are huge and the ceilings are 10' high. The owner is a friendly old guy with 2 big Labradors; 1 yellow and 1 black. He is going to drive us to the airport tomorrow to catch our 4:45 flight. We are supposed to arrive back in Richmond tomorrow at 11:25 pm (through Charlotte).... read more

Day 12 - Back to Virgin Gorda

Geo: 18.4451, -64.4376We left Tortola behind this morning via a 30 minute ferry to Virgin Gorda. Personnel from our hotel, Rosewood at Little Dix Bay, were waiting when we exited the ferry. After a 5-minute ride, we arrived at the resort. It is definitely top shelf. We lounged on the beach about 100 feet from our room until our heads cleared from the Full Moon Party the night before. One of 3 restaurants on the resort property, the Beach Grill, is about 150 feet from our room. After lunch, we sailed around the bay on a Hobie Cat.After happy hour on our patio, complete with fresh strawberries that were delivered to our room, we had dinner at the Sugar Mill Restaurant which is the Rosewood's fine dining restaurant.The Rosewood will be home through Saturday.... read more

Geo: 43.7405, 7.42543Monte-Carlo in the principality of Monaco was not quite as we expected. As it was just after the Grand Prix there was a huge amount of removal of infra structure ie. loads of scaffolding and metal barriers being removed so we did not see it at its best. However even without that we felt that the town had been ruined by the erection of some ugly modern buildings hiding the old attractive ones. We did walk quite a bit of the actual circuit as my cousin is a keen Grand-Prix fan. In fact the town is not for people who cannot walk well as there are a lot of steps if you dont walk round the winding roads.
