Quoted one of the best road in the word, just along the cliffs with pristine blue water. Some panoramas remind a lot about Sardinia and west Ireland, we went all the way down through Geelon, Apollo Bay (that area is the paradise for the surfers) we were lucky that a storm was on the way so the colours were amazing. Then we stopped to the lighthouse in Cape Otway runned by Bracks Uncle..... read more

Viimeiset pari paivaa ovat kuluneet lahinna keskustaa ihmetellessa. Tutustuin eraaseen suomalaistyyppiin, jonka kanssa olemme viime paivat katselleet niskat kipeina pilvenpiirtajia. Rahaa on palanut kiitettavasti, silla uusia vaatteita on tullut hommattua ja lahes kaikki ruokailut on hoidettu ravintoloissa. Ruoka on taalla yllattavan halpaa! Jokainen askel alkaa tuntumaan entistakin kivuliaammalta... read more

Tensions were high the night before the wedding - and that was just the relatives! We arrived at Belconnen AMF Bowling in sunny Canberra (after an adventurous lap of honour but that’s another story…) for a Marman vs Smith bowl-off. The Marmans started off in fine form with Mikey, Lisa and Bevan cutting up the lanes with some fantastic displays of bowling. The Smith family weren’t so bad themselves, although there were rumours of illegal substitutions. Undeterred, the Marmans pushed on and won with an average of just over 1 point per player. Well done all those involved, not to mention the support team. Our team went on to play another game and finished in fine form - I dare say a credit to the Marman side? He he he…... read more

My new years resolution is a quest to find more on my family history... So off I trot from Nelson, New Zealand to see my Papa, wife Heidi, and half brother Paul. They pick me up from the airport and drive me half hour into the adelaide hills to a cute 'hick' town full of history itself; Kanmantoo. The original streets are dirt roads, dry stack wall fences, and some of the locals still live in the first Bluestone and limestone houses from the early settlers (1840). They are so old they look like they're about to fall over... the houses, not the locals! The bright blue skies are filled with the squarking sounds and colours from the flocks of pink and grey Galas, and they nesstle in the tall gum trees. Down the road they're ... read more

After an unadventful flight I arrived in Perth. Where I was picked up by Tracey and her sister. They took me back to their parents house for the night. It was great to see Anne and Brian again as we had met briefly before when they had stayed us in england. The next it was time to get every thing sorted for the appartment we all renting for the week in Scarborough. By the end of the day me and Tracey had everything sorted ready to pick up Mum and kelvin from the airport that evening. The next morning was big chill out and Aunty Barbra came round for Tea and cakes. In the afternoon after picking up Carl from the airport. We took a trip to Kings park for a quick look around before heading ... read more

After the New Year and the cockroach incident we made a swift exit from Sydney to the Blue Mountains. We caught the train from Sydney and after a little snooz i woke up to see a differnet landscape to that of the coast. The scenery was beautiful with mountains that glowed blue from the eucaliptus oil and a little town called Katoomba with lots of little cafes and a coutryside feel. We jumped off the train and headed to our hostel (central backpackers) that we had regretfully booked into for 2 nights. I have learnt my lesson now - never book into a hostel for longer than 1 night unless you have checked it out first. . Unfortunately it rained for pretty much the whole 3 days we were there but that didn't stop us. We ... read more

Well New Years Eve was a blast but bloody freezing. The trance party was on top of a bloody big hill which was submerged in a rain cloud for nearly 3 days. It also started out as a disaster as I never properly undersood the Alcohol free law. Obviously I thought it meant you can't take your own so I thought bugger it its NYE and I'll buy it in there. But no I was wrong, Alcohol free literally means alcohol free. It took a long time for it to register. So abviously a plan was needed. We drove for 2 hours to buy some booze as we were in the middle of nowhere. I was happy as I got the last bottle of Vodka, some beers, wine and champagne. We hid it wellin the tent ... read more

The second day was slightly more relaxed as we were due to fly out to Tasmania later that evening, we hit the beach in a town called manly whitch is in one of the outer suburbs of Sydney. The place seemed really chilled out and the beach was a great place, with quite a bit of surfing going on. After cooking myself for a few hours we headed to a steak house for steak (suprisingly!) and chips and beer.....appy days. We dashed back to the apartment for a quick change of clothes then off to the airport and met up with the rest of the guys. In the group was Nicks mate steve whose apartment we'd been crashing at, Suzie and her fella Jimmy. Again the customs a security people took a shine to me, this ... read more
